FOOD SAFETY TRAINING & CERTIFICATION (FoSTaC)

Food Safety Training and Certification is a training programme developed by the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) with the goal of increasing food business operators’ awareness of food safety and standards. To ensure food safety, every food industry operator must have a trained and certified individual on their premises, according to the regulations of the FSSAI Act.

Objective

  • To bring behavioural change and inculcating a culture of food safety across the country.
  • To create an improved environment of self-compliance to food safety and standards.

Food Safety Courses

Food safety supervisors will be trained in face-to-face and online formats for basic, advanced, and specific courses.

FoSTaC offers 17 different types of competency-based certification programmes. Each course lasts 8 to 12 hours and is spread out across 1 to 2 days. The course was created by domain specialists and reviewed by an FSSAI expert committee. The following three tiers of training manuals are based on general hygiene or manufacturing procedures as described in Schedule 4 of the FSS Regulation.

 

Basic level certification (4 Hrs)
Basic level certifications are meant for the food business.

Advance level certification (8 Hrs)

Advanced courses and certification are for State & Central Licensed food businesses. 

Special certification (12 Hrs)

The special course has been developed for high-risk food businesses or The food business which require special attention.

FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR COURSE

Certificate awarded by: FOOD SAFETY TRAINING & CERTIFICATION OF FSSAI     

Food Safety Supervisor Training and Certification is required by law in the Country.

Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) is required by law in the states of India.

In terms of Section 16(3) h of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, the Food Safety Standards Authority of India has to ensure training of persons, who are or intend to become involved in Food Business, whether as Food Business Operators or employees or otherwise. As per the FSSAI order dated 6th October 2017, it would be mandatory for all food businesses having Central License or State License to have at least one trained and certified Food Safety Supervisor for every 25 food handlers or part thereof on all their premice.
