The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (Statutory organisation under an Act of Parliament) has launched a short-term course – Certificate in Accounting Technicians (CAT) for 12th appearing/passed students to satisfy the high demand for entry-level accountants in India. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, collaborated on the creation of this course. CAT teaches students how to keep track of their finances, prepare tax returns, fill out forms under the Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, Customs Act, and export and import paperwork, among other things. The CAT course is associated with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India’s Qualification Pack BSC/Q8101 – Accounts Executive (BFSISSC).

Course Details.

A) Foundation Course (Entry Level) Part-I
Paper 1
(A) Fundamentals of Financial Accounting.
(B) Applied Business and Industrial Laws

Paper 2

(A) Financial Accounting – 2
(B) Statutory Compliance (GST)

Mode of Examination:-
Multiple choice questions to be answered on-line

Paper I (100 Marks):-
Section A: – Fundamentals of Financial Accounting (60 Marks) Section B: – Applied
Business and Industrial Laws (40 Marks) Total Questions: – 100 (Multiple Choice
Questions)
Maximum Marks: – 100 (Each Question will carry 1 Mark)
There will be no negative marking for wrong answers

Paper 2 (100 Marks):-
Section A: – Financial Accounting-2 (50 Marks)
Section B: – Statutory Compliance (50 Marks)
Total Questions: -100 (Multiple Choice Questions)
Maximum Marks: -100 (Each Question will carry 1 Mark)
There will be no negative marking for wrong answers

Standard of Passing:-
A Candidate of Foundation Course (Entry Level) Part-I Examination shall be
declared to have passed in the Examination if he secures minimum 40% marks in
each paper and an aggregate of 50% of total marks (i.e., 100 ) in the Foundation
Course (Entry Level) Part-I Examination.

  • Eligible to join for CMA INTERMEDIATE directly after completing CAT level- 1

B) Competency Level – Part-II
(A) Fundamentals of Computers.
(B) Filling of Statutory Returns.
(C) Introduction to Costing Principles and Preparation of Cost Statements.
(D) 5-days Orientation Programme.
(E) The Internship will be for 45 days.
