Overview

Commerce being the backbone of business, is one of the three academic streams for higher study after Plus 2, the other two being Humanities and Science. The scope for Commerce graduates is multifarious, cutting across all kinds of Industry in the modern job-market. After doing B. Com course, one can work in any private or government organization in the accounts section. The banking sector often comes up with openings for commerce graduates.

Advantages of a degree in Commerce
B.Com. Program affords a good knowledge base for a range of careers that broadly fall into two categories: those in business and finance such as Cost and Management Accounting (CMA), Company Secretariship (CS), Cost and Works Accountants (CWA), Banking and Insurance, and so on; and the other includes Finance, Law, Hotel/Hospital Management, etc.. If one is not interested in finance sectors, depending on one’s aptitude and choice, there are any number of options in fields such as Mass Communication, Event Management, and Travel and Tourism.

Career Options

B.Com graduates are eligible for good jobs in the State as well as Central Government offices in positions such as accountants, tax assistants, and administrators.

B.Com Graduates are eligible to appear for Civil Services Exams.

They can even enter into Defence sectors as accountants.

The Railways and Indian Post Office too hold ample opportunities for B.Com graduates. A commerce graduate can enhance or even diversify the scope of his/her employability by doing suitable add-on courses in tandem with their graduation Program.
